Tasty / Crispy Pita Bread Dippers

As you may have guessed from the rambling title, I had trouble coming up with a name to adequately describe what these little numbers are.

Tasty / Crispy Pita Bread Dippers are quite simply pita bread cut into triangles, glazed with an olive oil/oregano/salt/pepper concoction, and baked in the oven on broil until golden brown. Yes, they are that simple.

You will need:

  • As much pita bread your little heart desires, cut into triangles
  •  2-3 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of oregano or rosemary or both
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oven set on “HI” broil (yes, I know it’s High, HI is what my oven displays it as…)

Place your pita triangles on a baking sheet. Mix up the oil/oregano/salt/pepper concoction. Using a basting brush, glaze the pita triangles evenly. Mmmmm.

Throw those babies in the oven (on the lower rack) and let cook until golden brown and most of the oil is gone. Once this happens, take the tray out of the oven, flip the triangles over and put back in the oven until your eyes are once again delighted by a golden brown hue. Remove from oven and let cool.

The end result will look something like this:

Eat with your favourite dip or spread. Don’t have a fave dip? Stay tuned for my Morg’s Famous Black Bean Dip and Roasted Red Pepper / Sun Dried Tomato Tapenade.
